It was great news when we finally got to see the campari team bring Appleton to Kenya thank you Campari Uk for this directive. Karibu Kenya na Afrika mzima it is with great pleasure that you finally land here a step in the right direction however slow it is getting there.

The growth of rum across the globe marks for good tidings .The rhumbishop and Africa Rum Guild has been pushing for the awareness and training of rum in africa.To the rest of africa here below is but a brief of what Appleton is in the rum industry.

Appleton is the heart of Jamaica it is one of among the oldest rum distilleries in the world with a great reputation and story.It falls among rums in the premium category with however very price friendly range for clients of all pockets.It appeals to not only the masses but also held seriously among rum professionals .

Appleton is a rum that seeks to appeal to whisky drinkers that seek to move into the rum category.In the Kenyan market we have been fortunate enough to receive the reserve blend ,signature and 12 year old .




what makes Appleton so much loved and appreciated across has to be the following;
  • The terroir - When we talk on terroir we are basically speaking about its overview of landscape and its factors.If you remember well just like in wine how regional climates and landscape affect it so does in rum.Appleton comes from Jamaica its sugarcane is gown in the Nassau valley on over 22000 hectares of sugarcane with 10 varieties of sugarcane.The land around it and the climatic conditions makes for interesting observation.Tropical rains ,limestone soils throughout the year is just but the start.

  • The production- all the sugarcane produced on the land is harvested and used up to make the great rum you enjoy .Appleton rum definitely comes from molasses and is produced through both pot and column distillation.This i will go into later however Pot distillation creates a bouquet of flavour while column distillation delivers the necessary proof strength need for it to be high enough for you to get high.

  • The aging and blending  -all Appleton rums are blends that are however aged for different periods.Appleton does follow minimum aging meaning the youngest rum in the bottle is what at least found in the bottle with all rums been blends of that age statement and above it.

  • Versatility- Joy Spence the master blender of the estate has tried to create something that appeals to craft cocktail enthusiasts but also serious rum professionals.
Point to note Appleton rums do not contain dosage i.e no added sugar however they added caramel colour to reflect uniformity of there liquid.

Taking that you are looking for a premium rum this competes on the very range of your favorite whiskies with utmost punch you will definitely come back for more .
